One week on

So a week has passed since Esme arrived and we're loving being parents. In fact it actually seems like she's always been here.
We've had a busy week full of visitors keen to meet our beautiful little girl, trips into the big wide world and a hell of a lot of washing!
Our trip out to a pub for lunch resulted in the manager refusing Esme entry...already taking after her Daddy!
Esme is changing every day - as is her routine so we are responding as best we can as we all get to know one another. We are very well acquainted with her bodily functions - Simon was attacked by a projectile poo during a 4am change! It certainly woke him up.
She's feeding really well and at her 5day midwife check had only lost 0.8% of her birth weight (1oz) rather than the expected 5-10%.
Anyway bath time is here so I'd better go and play in the tub!

Esme Elizabeth Webb

She's arrived!

After what felt like an amazingly long pregnancy Esme Elizabeth Webb made a safe and speedy entrance into the world on Saturday 19th September at 3:21am.
We're loving every moment of having her with us - it feels so natural that she's here and already we can't really remember what we did with our time before. We find that hours have flown by and all we've done is look at our little girl, especially when she opens her eyes and mesmerises us! Thankfully Esme has had her Nana staying to make sure there's been food on the table and clean clothes to wear!!!
For those of you who are interested, the labour was...over in a flash! Things seemed to be starting at 4am on Friday with weak contractions every hour or so. These continued through the day but with no signs of Esme making an appearance. So at midnight on Friday the hospital told us to try and get some sleep!!! Three hours 21 minutes later she had arrived!!! With just an hour and a half at the hospital. The midwife was rather surprised by the speed! So surprised that she had Simon working hard: monitoring heart beats; holding local anaesthetic bottles; assisting with taking blood and cutting the cord once she was out!
We came home from hospital Saturday evening as feeding was established and we all wanted to be together in our own home...and we are still loving that feeling.
Those of you who know Simon well will no doubt be concerned about his sleep situation...and so far...he's managing brilliantly. We've had a couple of pretty sleepless nights and a couple of good nights so we're still waiting to see what Esme's routine will be but Si's keen to start daytime napping for us all!!!
Talking of which - that's what I'm supposed to be doing seeing as Esme fed more or less continuously from 11pm to 3am!

Thanks for all the lovely messages.

39 + 6 weeks

1 day to go!!!

So, tomorrow is the big day! Due date. Not that many babies actually arrive on their due date but you never know! I've been talking to Crab lots today about making an escape.

Midwife check up went well - all good there. I just think I might burst soon!

Hopefully the next post will be news of our new arrival. Fingers crossed please!

Count down...

Sorry I've not posted for a while! Not quite sure what I've been up to but...been busy!

We've now got just 6 days left til due date and we're doing the best we can to encourage Crab to make an appearance as soon as possible. All was well at our hospital check up on Tuesday so now it's just wait 'n' see!

The past few weeks have seen us decorate the entire house, build countless items of furniture, buy and (fingers crossed) sell cars, attempt to empty and organise the garage and construct baby 'essentials'! We also managed a night away in Nottingham to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary

and a weekend in Llandudno to allow us to stop the DIY for 48 hours!

So for now we continue to find jobs to keep us busy and enjoy being 'just the two of us' until our little one decides it'd be more comfortable out here in the big wide world!

Will keep you posted!
